Volunteers are needed Tuesday, 9/22 and Wednesday, 9/23, anytime between 9:30 AM-4:00 PM to help with float assembly. Handy? Good with a glue gun? We need you! Reach out to SalemHSAComms@gmail.com to help.

🍭 Calling All Wizard of Oz Treasures!
Have any Wizard of Oz-themed décor or props tucked away? We’re looking for oversized lollipops, rainbows, colorful decorations, and anything else that could help bring our theme to life. Check those party bins and closets!

🎨 Help Make Parade Signs
Join us at Salem on September 25 from 4:00-5:30 PM to create signs for the parade.

Meet Your '26-'27 HSA Board 👋

Jess Frost, VP of Community Outreach

Joining the HSA board as VP of Community Outreach after serving as a class parent for five years, Jess Frost is excited to dive into her new role and help the HSA make Salem an extraordinary place for our families. She has a 5th grader and a 2nd grader at Salem, plus a hilarious 3-year-old who keeps everyone on their toes. When she isn't teaching as an adjunct law professor at Hofstra Law School, Jess is cooking up a storm in her kitchen or working on improving her tennis game.

Sarika Loona, VP of Class Parents

Sarika Loona is excited to return to the board as VP of Class Parents — she brings serious credentials to the role as a third-year class parent herself. She is mom to Jaxon, a 4th grader at Salem. A former marketing executive who helped well-known consumer brands connect with their customers through data and strategy, Sarika today runs her family's textile-import business. When she's not working or volunteering, you'll find her traveling, exploring new restaurants, or working on her cooking — and picking up Spanish along the way.

Danielle Mendelsohn, Secretary

Danielle is excited to be back for her second year as HSA Secretary! When she’s not working as an attorney, she’s keeping up with her 4th grader at Salem. Outside of work and HSA life, Danielle loves traveling, getting lost in a good book, playing mahjong, and heading out on Pokémon hunts with her son.

Jen Ochani, Assistant Treasurer

Jen joins the board for the first time this year, excited to dive in and make it a great one. A Long Island native who grew up in Floral Park, she now calls Port Washington home and has two daughters — a 3rd grader and a Kindergartener at Salem. By day she works in Finance Operations for the Radiology Department at Northwell. When she's not at work, you'll find her running through Port Washington, hitting the gym, or soaking up time on the beach.

🎉 Calling all our newest Vikings!

Join us for the inaugural Vikings Welcome on Friday, September 25 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Whitney Field! Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd graders can receive a FREE Vikings T-shirt from a senior student-athlete — then wear it proudly at the Pride in Port Parade the next day! Stick around for Toy Story 5: Movies Under the Stars on the new video scoreboard. 🎬

Free for the whole family! Pizza & ice cream will be available for purchase. 🍕🍦

Vikings shirts are limited to the first 200 students.
