Mother Nature may have had other plans for Pride in Port this year, but she couldn’t cancel Salem spirit!
A HUGE thank you to all of our students, teachers, staff, and Salem families who showed up in blue & white and brought the energy for Spirit Day! Even with a Nor'easter trying to crash the party, Salem showed off that school pride and made the day feel extra special.

Fall Family Fair Night 📅 Tuesday, October 6 • 6:00–8:00 PM
Join us for a cozy night of crafts, cookie decorating, mystery teacher readers, and more. Come in your pajamas, bring your favorite stuffed friend, and make it a night to remember!
Fall Book Fair 📅 October 6–8, 2026
Students shop with their classes during the week; families shop together during Fall Family Fair Night. Preload your student's eWallet, sign up to volunteer, or check the flyer for everything you need to know.

5th Grade Ghosts are back! 👻
Send a Boo Bag to a friend, neighbor, or family member and spread some Halloween cheer around Salem. Each bag ($10, or $15 for two) comes with Halloween goodies, a festive treat bag, and a "You've Been Booed" tag to display. Delivery runs October 24th–31st — all proceeds support Salem's 5th grade events!
Meet Your '26-'27 HSA Board 👋
Greg Kalikow, Asst. Treasurer
Greg Kalikow returns to the board as Co-Treasurer for his second year, having started in the role alongside Maria last year. He is dad to Alexis, a 5th grader at Salem, Hailey, a 2nd grader, and a third daughter in the threes who is a Salem Star in the making. A fourth-generation member of his family's real estate business, Greg works at The Kalikow Group where he oversees property management and development across New York and beyond. When he's not working or volunteering, he's likely being outnumbered by three daughters — and handling it like a pro.
Melissa Pereira, Trustee
After previously serving as a Salem HSA Co-President, Melissa is excited to return to the board this year as a Trustee. With this being her family’s final year at Salem, she is looking forward to making the most of it and knows she will miss the Salem community so much! Melissa has a son in 5th grade at Salem and a daughter in 7th grade at Weber. She works full-time as an Elementary School Counselor and, when she’s not working or volunteering, enjoys reading a good book and spending time with her family. Melissa is looking forward to another great year of supporting the HSA, and helping make her last year at Salem a memorable one!
Kristina Bresnick, Trustee
Kristina is a proud Salem mom to Sebastian and Leo, and returns to the board as Trustee after previously serving as Salem HSA President. She loves being involved in the Salem community and helping make school events and traditions extra special. When she's not volunteering at Salem, Kristina runs her event-planning business, Wish Upon a Little Party — and is usually dreaming up her next creative project.
